OPENING NEWSLETTER

Welcome one and all to another curling season! I look forward to this season
with much anticipation and a little trepidation as your club president. The
nominating committee has worked diligently putting together a dynamic team and
we will try to make this season one of friendship and of satisfying curling.
The ice will be in for practice starting Oct.11th with the
Borough Bonspiel slated to begin the week of
Oct.16th. The deadline for entries in this bonspiel is Oct.5th. Please contact
Evan Mooney at 819-212-6953 or at
evan@kobelttransportation.comto register. The finals of the opening ‘spiel
will be Oct.22nd at which time we will have the official inauguration of our new
mural on the Queen St. side of the building. In the evening around 5:30 p.m. we
hope you will come and enjoy a mechoui opening dinner which is in the planning
stages. A mechoui is a bar-b-q supper of beef, pork, and chicken to satisfy all
tastes.
Your executive looks forward to a meet and greet on Oct.13th at our scheduled
annual meeting. The bar will open at 6:00 p.m. for your pleasure and the meeting
will follow at 7:00 p.m. For more details of events at the club, please consult
www.lennoxvillecurling.ca or come by the club. A calendar of events will be
posted in both places.
A reminder that the club is run entirely by volunteers and you will most likely
be approached by someone asking for your participation on a committee, or in the
kitchen, or perhaps even heading up an event---maybe all three! Of course you
are always welcome to participate even without an invitation. PLEASE consider
helping out where and when possible, so everyone can enjoy our events. Many
hundreds of volunteer hours are required to run successfully!

As a second reminder; club dues are payable without penalty by Nov.1st, 2011.
CLINICS: For members will be held 9:00a.m.-11:00a.m. on Nov.12th, 19th, and
26th.
Registration and payment of $5:00 per session is required. Private evaluation
and /or instruction are also available during the season by qualified coaches.
This is by appointment only and is $10.00 per hour. Contact Judy Cassidy for
further information.
Members of the executive have been busy in the off-season procuring quotes for
work required on the fire escape from the second floor. Plans are being made to
replace the door leading to the fire escape and to replace the deteriorating
escape stairs.
Other projects include a course in C.P.R. and the use of a defibrillator that a
number of members have successfully completed.
Quotes have been secured for a dehumidifier for the ice shed and a water
recuperation system, also for the replacement of the two front doors. Some of
this work will be done if we are successful in our bid for grant money.
We look forward to a “Stix and Stones” bonspiel for those sixty-five and over
that use a stick delivery. This is being planned for sometime in November.
A wheelchair bonspiel is also being contemplated with the time yet to be
established.
As you can see we are getting geared up and ready for another great year so
welcome once again to all. Let’s have fun and see you curlers between the sheets
this winter!

Bienvenue à une autre saison de curling! Je me réjouis de cette nouvelle saison
avec beaucoup d’anticipation et un peu de trépidation en tant que présidente du
club. Le comité des candidatures a travaillé très fort pour mettre sur pied une
équipe dynamique et nous allons essayer de faire que cette saison, soit remplie
d'amitié et de bon curling.
La glace sera prête dès le 11 octobre pour pratiquer.
Le tournoi de l'arrondissement devrait commencer la semaine du 16 octobre.
La date limite pour les inscriptions à ce tournoi est le 5 octobre. S.V.P.

pour vous inscrire. Les finales du bonspiel d’ouverture seront le 22 octobre,
date à laquelle nous aurons l'inauguration officielle de notre nouvelle peinture
murale sur le côté de la rue Queen du bâtiment. Ce sera fait autour de 17 h 30.
Nous espérons que vous profiterez du dîner d'ouverture «méchoui» qui est en
cours de planification. Le méchoui sera composé de bœuf, de porc et de poulet
pour satisfaire tous les goûts.
Votre exécutif a hâte de vous rencontrer et de vous saluer à notre assemblée
annuelle prévue le 13 octobre. Le bar sera ouvert à 18 h pour votre plaisir et
la réunion suivra à 19 h. Pour de plus amples détails sur les événements du

ou rendez-vous au club. Un calendrier des événements sera affiché aux deux
endroits.
Un petit rappel : Le club est entièrement géré par des bénévoles et vous serez
très probablement approché par quelqu'un pour solliciter votre participation à
un comité - dans la cuisine ; à la tête d'un événement --- peut-être tous les
trois! Bien sûr, vous êtes toujours les bienvenus à participer, même sans
invitation. S'IL VOUS PLAÎT envisager d'aider où et quand c'est possible, afin
que chacun puisse profiter de nos événements. Plusieurs centaines d'heures de
bénévolat sont nécessaires pour faire fonctionner avec succès notre club!

Un deuxième rappel : Les cotisations sont payables sans pénalité au plus tard le
1er novembre 2011.
Cliniques : Pour les membres, les cliniques auront lieues de 9 h à 11 h, les 12
-19 et 26 nov. Il est nécessaire de s’inscrire à l’avance et des frais de 5,00 $
par clinique s’appliquent.
Cours privés : Évaluation et/ou cours sont également disponibles durant la
saison par des entraineurs qualifiés. Sur rendez-vous seulement : Frais de 10,00
$/heure. Renseignements : Voir Judy Cassidy pour plus d'informations.
Les membres de l'exécutif ont été occupés pendant la saison estivale, à produire
des demandes de soumission pour les travaux à effectuer sur l'escalier de
secours du deuxième étage. Des plans sont en cours pour remplacer la porte ainsi
que les escaliers. D'autres projets comprennent un cours de C.P.R. et
l'utilisation d'un défibrillateur, certains membres ont achevé ce cours avec
succès. Des soumissions ont été obtenues pour un déshumidificateur pour le
hangar de la glace et pour un système de récupération d'eau, ainsi que le
remplacement des deux portes avant. Certains de ces travaux seront faits si nous
réussissons dans notre quête de subventions.
Nous nous préparons d’un tournoi "Stix and Stones" pour les 65 ans et plus qui
utilisent un bâton. Ce tournoi est prévu pour le mois de novembre. Un tournoi en
fauteuil roulant est également prévu. (Date à déterminer).
Comme vous pouvez voir, nous travaillons forts et sommes prêts pour une autre
grande année.
